Happy New Year and Thank You

Didn’t want to go with a stock “New Year” image, so instead here’s my favourite detail from my favourite painting, The Waterseller of Seville by Velazquez

I’ll have an article out as usual next Tuesday morning, this is just a note to say thank you for reading and subscribing during the year.

The plan for next year is to try and grow this substack (and fulfil the airy rhetoric of my last piece) by getting published more often. That’ll probably mean doing slightly quicker/ shorter bi-monthly pieces while I work on longer ones in the background, hopefully you’ll bear with me on that.

This has been personally one of the shittest years of my life (I know I’m not alone in that) but in writing terms probably the best, thanks to you and your thoughtful responses.
