Some Recent Articles You May Have Missed
I’ve turned on paid subs on my Substack- thanks to everyone who signed up so far (everything will remain free for now). The plan is to make a big step up in productivity, but no sooner had I done that than I got offers to write some essays that I didn’t feel I could turn down.
So just in case you missed them, here is a long piece I wrote for Unherd on the 25th anniversary of Father Ted, Ireland’s national sitcom. It was great to write something politically neutral, and opportunity to crystallise my thoughts on the uniqueness of Ireland in the 90s:

I also wrote for The Critic about the origin of the incoming hate speech laws; something I picked up on that I plan to write more on in the future here is Ireland’s dedication to modernity as a concept, which isn’t always mirrored (or understood) elsewhere.

If you haven’t read please do; more to come shortly on this Substack in any case.
