"Activists always demand speech on the basis that the message you are to deliver is that of being a decent human, and that delivering the activist message is more important than whatever you’re doing in that moment. But that logic can then be applied (and is) to any and every moment; and every activist cause can be portrayed as being in the spirit of being a decent human being. The end effect, which is intentional, is to make creativity a subcategory of activism, and a slave to it. In that sense activism is fundamentally a philistine impulse, and an enemy of creativity, because inherent within it is a refusal to accept it can be of a lesser importance to creativity even in creativity’s own home."

Ireland's great poet, Yeats, put it best:

"Hearts with one purpose alone / Through summer and winter seem / Enchanted to a stone / To trouble the living stream."

What did he expect by hiring a has-been, never-was, shite-loader like Macklmore? LOL

I grew in a Irish named USA family who promoted the culture heavily, I learn to play the music and was taught the history as a child. But I always use the word "Celtic" to describe the culture. I did this when I had a real Irishman dispage my "Irishness" and called me a "Yank". I know for certain I knew more Irish music and history than he did, but nonethless I respected his bigotry and complied LOL.

But you cant take away my CELTIC heritage.

I've done some family tree research and, in 1841, about 5th/8ths of my ancestors were living in Ireland. So I'm probably more Irish than Joe Biden.

But I never would think of myself as Irish at all. Maybe because all of them had left Ireland by 1890 (for obvious reasons, most had left by 1851). I tend to find my English ancestors more interesting, just because there are way more detailed records for them to follow back through time. Of my Irish ancestors I only know that they were, say, born in Cork or wherever in 1829, and often not even that. I believe a lot of Irish records were sadly destroyed in a fire.
