My darker theory is this is the logical extension of the hyper-feminism that itself is a subcategory of contemporary social justice politics. In the darkness of their hearts, women who zealously support Clancy do so not because they think she was legally insane, but because they believe motherhood is oppressive, that women should have the right to choose to no longer be a mother at any point from conception through each trimester through infancy through toddler stages and maybe beyond.
