Regarding Sinn Fein, someone needs to ask Gerry Adam’s if this was the Ireland he hoped for when he murdered Jean McConville.

Gerry always strikes me as someone who sleeps pretty well at night.

Perhaps because he is a genuine psychopath? He covered for his pedophile brother Liam, even if by omission. He, along with the overrated Wee Martin, absolutely knew the movement was riddled with very high level informers and British agents. This furthered their long view political project. The case of the unfortunate Frank Hegarty is instructive, yes an informer but a total mark to betray the Libyan arms caches.

> This is the third of three promised round-ups

But hopefully only the third of many to come even without formal promise! Always highly interesting.

Yeah I think so. I might do spotlight-type ones on different issues in the future. I had hoped these articles would be quick wins but they’re proving pretty difficult to compile.

There is certainly a very strong element of loyalists marking their territory and saying do not screw with us. This has a broader meaning than migration, applying to all outsiders, especially republicans and nationalists of any hue or origin. The final stand of hardline Loyalism?

Great piece. Hard to know if history has become meaningless now. I wonder how meaningful the struggle for independence is to the new generation? My guess is that it is pretty irrelevant.

The Ukraine thing really is unfair, especially since European countries still buying Russian natural gas is way more helpful to Russia than some aluminum factory. I think part of it is some people got exposed to Irish tankies sympathetic to Russia online and made generalizations from that.

Regarding private enterprises adopting weird, proprietary relationships to Irishness, have you come across this before? https://epicchq.com/story/a-famine-board-game-really/
